WELCOME
Valladolid town was founded in 1543 over what was a maya settlement called “Zaci”that means “white bird”.Today it is known as the “Pearl of the East”. Listed as a “Pueblo mágico”.
It is the second most important city in Yucatan and the oldest in the state. It was founded in 1543 by spaniard Francisco de Montejo “El Sobrino” and was formerly inhabited by the Cupules in a place known as “ChauacHá, part of a Mayan chiefdom.
Valladolid has been known as “La Sultana del Oriente”, a title deserved for the architectural beauty of its colonial buildings.

ARCHEOLOGICAL SITES:
Chichén Itzá was a Mayan city from the period between 525, when it was founded, and AD 1,100. Its name means “mouth of the Itzá well” in reference to the sacred cenote found in the area.
Cobá is an archaeological site from the Classic Mayan era and is located 1 hour from Valladolid towards Tulum. It is a place whose archaeological remains are practically within the Mayan jungle. It is a very beautiful and interesting place where even today we can see Mayan stelae and engravings of Mayan hieroglyphs, together with its tall buildings such as the Nohoch muul temple with its 42 meters high and that even today this pyramid can be climbed .
Yaxunah
Mayan city that began its development around 400 B.C. It was an important location because it was equidistant from the three coasts of the peninsula and from the great political centers of the south The great Sac-be or white road, the longest known in the Mayan World, conecting Yaxunah with Cobá
It is located 23 KM from Chichén Itza.
The Cenote Lol-Ha (or Flor de Agua) is located in the center of the town, in front of the tourist parador. It is an open cenote with crystalline and fresh waters, with a depth of at least 30 meters, with access facilities.
Ek Balam or “black jaguar” houses walled areas in its fifteen kilometers, as well as large structures such as the Oval Palace, Las Gemelas and the White House of the mayan king.
